Was Salsa dancing invented in Puerto Rico?

The web gives Puerto Rico partial credit!
Salsa, both the music and the dance, emerged from a fusion of diverse influences, primarily rooted in Cuban music and Afro-Caribbean dance traditions, with significant contributions from Puerto Rican music. As Cuban and Puerto Rican musicians migrated to New York City, they took their musical traditions with them and the term "salsa" was coined in the 1960s in New York.
